The Saratoga Congregation
The design highlight for the Beth David Congregation in Saratoga is definitely the slanting exterior walls.
This particular backward effect creates a very dynamic energy. The stone chosen was the Jerusalem Gold, quarried in Israel and hand chiseled, in order to obtain a rough finish.
Custom wood templates were made and sent to the supplier in order to achieve the “solid block” look for the double slanting wall. This choice allowed to perfectly place each piece when carving the critical corners. While there were some construction difficulties, the final result showcases all pieces fitting together like a jigsaw puzzle.
