This division hosts large sized natural stone samples housed in custom made cabinets and allows to truly understand the variances within a stone.
The Architectural Elements core team is composed of Alessio, Alex, Giorgio, Antonio, Paula, Christina, and Julian.
Alessio, the Founder.
Born in Brindisi, Italy, Alessio has a Master’s Degree in Non-Profit Management. Passionate about art, photography, and design, he started working in the architectural materials supply industry in 1997, after he arrived in the US.
“My main goal is to source and to produce what clients are looking for and work with them on all stages, from the initial phase throughout installation.”
Alessio builds deep and trustworthy relationships with manufacturers, architects, designers, artisans, and builders, and he is always looking for authentic and sustainable values in every aspect of his work.
Alex grew up in Italy, from British parents, and was educated at the University of Virginia. He has an MBA from SDA Bocconi in Milan. He brings know-how and efficiency to the office everyday. At CoorItalia since 2008, he wears all the other non-sales hats, from CFO to CIO with frequent forays into COO roles.
“The passion for the product is very unique at CoorItalia, it runs through everything we do. This allows us to always give our best to the clients and collaborators.”.
Alex’s technological and organizational skills, along with his extensive management experience, are crucial and made of him the company’s mentor. His interests include looking after seals and sea lions at the Marine Mammal Center, consulting on projects for the Taproot Foundation, and long walks on the beach with his wife and Scrumpy, their “miniature” Great Dane.
Giorgio, Vice President for Architectural Elements division.
While growing up in Italy, Giorgio developed a sensibility for all things beautiful, which, thanks to his Teutonic upbringing, he is capable to couple with a get-it-done attitude. The professional experience with industrial manufacturing and supplies for demanding engineering and construction projects proved very useful since he moved to the US and started catering to the architectural and design industry.
“CoorItalia’s approach is distinctive, because every project and collaboration gets zeroed-in and treated like a special mission. While close-knit and often jokingly, our team takes any assignment very seriously, almost fanatically, we are all driven by supplying and delivering quality”.
Giorgio’s communication skills help the company build trustworthy and long-lasting relationships with collaborators and clients. He keeps an energetic atmosphere in the office. When he is not in the office or with clients, you might be volunteering in the lively Italian expatriate community, or playing outdoors, never far from a beach.
Antonio, Technical Stone Specialist.
Born in Cagnano Varano, a small town in the Gargano region of Southern Italy, Antonio moved to Milan where he graduated in drafting and surveying. He went on architecture studies and eventually began his career in the marble and stone industry. Working as a Project Manager for an Italian company, he traveled between the United States and Italy and he made of California his home in 1994.
“God is in the details” is my favorite quote. This industry thought me how attention to small details can make a project “meraviglioso”.
Antonio played a great role in prestigious projects worldwide, helping clients source suitable materials and providing technical support. He has maintained a constant presence in Italy where he has a second home in the “marble city” of Carrara.
Paula, Interior Architect.
Paula lived in Italy until 2012 when she decided to move to her father’s native city, San Francisco. She got a Major in Interior Architecture in Switzerland and her professional expertise is in high-end retail projects.
“I love all the architectural materials Cooritalia has to offer and I am happy to help clients understand and envision their ideas.”
Paula is a people person, ready to illustrate every aspect and application of the fascinating materials that enhance CoorItalia projects. She is trilingual and is an eager traveler. Her passions are photography, design, good food, and fashion.
Christina, Project Manager.
Christina, originally from Illinois, has a BS in biomedical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a JD from Case Western Reserve University. After practicing law in Cleveland, Ohio, for several years, Christina decided to move to California for a change of scenery and better weather.
“Prior to joining CoorItalia, I worked as a project coordinator for a general contractor, where I used my organizational and communication skills to keep commercial and multifamily residential projects on track during the pre-construction phase.”
When she is not working, Christina spends most of her time exploring the many trails in the Bay Area (both hiking and trail running), visiting craft breweries, finding new dog-friendly places to visit with Norman (her rescued Chihuahua mix), and cheering for Cleveland sports teams.
Julian, Sales Manager.
Born in Seoul, Korea and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Julian has a diverse professional experience, including working at financial firm, startups, and with a global furniture company in both Korea and U.S. This way, he gained the sales and project management skills and knowledge for his role at CoorItalia.
“Every project I work on with our clients are unique. I look forward to working with our clients to develop, execute and finally seeing the beautiful finished product. This is what makes it exciting and worthwhile.”
Julian enjoys learning about art and everything related to design. He is also always on the hunt for that perfect vintage mid-century furniture. And more than anything else, spending time with his wife and son.
